The Marathon of Hope
On April 12th, 1980, Terrance Stanley (Terry) Fox
began a feat no one has ever dared try. A trek across Canada. He called it, The
Marathon of Hope.
Fox was one with enormous strength and perseverance. Having cancer
and using a prosthetic leg he continued to push himself to start the run.
He began his marathon, by dipping his leg in the Atlantic
ocean, filled two large bottles of water with ocean water. He intended to keep
one as a souvenir and to pour the other into the pacific ocean come the end of
his journey.
His journey was forced to end on September 1st for
the reason that the cancer spread to his lungs and he could no longer continue.
He
died almost one year later on June 28th, 1981. He is still none as a
legend and a legacy. He has raised over $500 million and counting.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Fox
